Patagonia Ascent

This peak is an accessible objective in the Fitz Roy massif, offering a classic alpine climbing experience in a spectacular environment.

From the summit, you can enjoy outstanding views of the Torre Valley and its surrounding mountains.

The route begins at the Blanco Glacier, followed by an easy ascent with some technical sections that lead to the summit. It is an excellent entry-level alpine climb in Patagonia.

PROGRAM

The day before the expedition there is a brief meeting with the guide to check equipment and finalize details.

Day 1

We drive to the Río Eléctrico bridge, where the approach begins. We hike toward Laguna Sucia, passing through Poincenot Camp.

From there, we ascend through a moraine gaining approximately 600 meters of elevation until reaching base camp at “La Cueva” bivouac.

  • Duration: 5 – 6 hours

Day 2

Early in the morning, taking advantage of favorable snow conditions, we ascend the Blanco Glacier using glacier travel techniques.

Once at the base of the mountain, we begin the climb using short-rope techniques and pitched climbing on more difficult sections. The ascent and descent of the wall back to base camp takes approximately 5 hours.

We then return to El Chaltén following the same route as Day 1.

  • Total duration: 10 – 12 hours
DIFFICULTY

Physical difficulty:Difficult. Alpine terrain including steep scree slopes, use of short-rope techniques, rock climbing, moraines, glaciers, and snow. Elevation gain of 1000 m or more.

Technical skills: Glacier experience required. Proper use of crampons and ice axe is necessary.
