Patagonia Ascent

The aim of this course is to introduce alpine skiing enthusiasts to the world of ski mountaineering. We build a solid foundation in mountain safety and expand the sporting objectives of those practicing this winter activity.

PROGRAM

THEORETICAL CLASSES

Two theoretical sessions covering safety fundamentals, snow science and risk evaluation in mountain environments.

FIELD DAYS

Three full-day outings in the mountains where participants will apply the learned techniques, including route planning, ascending with skins, safe descent, and group decision-making in real conditions.

DIFFICULTY

Low: cumulative elevation gain between 500 and 1000 m, with slopes up to 35°. Backcountry skiing experience is required, along with a good level of off-piste skiing and experience ascending with skins.
